SIM packs at the seafarer centre

Keep SIM packs at the desk, fill a visit bag by the next region of each ship, and send eSIM by email.

Short answer: A centre that sells data plans its stock by the ships due, sells packs at the desk and on ship visits after a phone check, and sends eSIM by email to phones that support it.

  • Packs for this port and the next
  • A visit bag for each ship
  • eSIM by email at the desk
The flow

From the ships due to the pack in the hand.

Four steps of a centre that sells data. Pick one to see it.

01 / Step

Stock by the ships due

The centre reads the ships due and their next regions, then orders packs for this port and the next ports.

01Set up

  • Agree the packs for your port country and the main next regions with the RoamWorks team.
  • Set your retail prices for the desk and the ship visits.
  • Show staff and ship visitors how to check a phone.

02Each week

  • Read the ships due and their next regions.
  • Fill the visit bag by region, and keep desk packs for the port country.

03At the desk and on board

  • Check that the phone is unlocked before a sale.
  • Sell a SIM pack to a phone with a SIM slot, and an eSIM by email to a phone that supports eSIM.
  • A locked phone gets neither.

The solution

Seafarer centres

Keep SIM packs at the centre desk and in the ship visit bag, so crews in port get data for shore leave and the next port calls. eSIM goes by email.

Which packs should the centre keep?

Packs for the port country, for shore leave, and regional packs for the next ports of the ships due. The centre sets the number.

Can a ship visitor sell on board?

Yes, where the ship and the port allow ship visits. The visitor checks the phone before the sale.

What if the phone has no SIM slot?

Sell an eSIM at the desk. The crew member gets the one-time code by email and installs it on the centre Wi-Fi.

Does the plan work at sea?

No. The plan works ashore and in port. At sea, the crew uses the ship Wi-Fi.
