SIM and eSIM for exchange and au pair programs

Put a one-time eSIM code in the pre-departure pack, so each participant lands with data and reaches the host family. A new eSIM covers each 30 days until a local line.

Short answer: Participants land in a new country and must reach the host family, the local coordinator, and home. The one-time code goes out with the pre-departure pack, and for a participant under 18 it goes to a parent. The arrival orientation keeps SIM packs for phones without eSIM, and a new eSIM covers each further 30 days until the participant has a local line.

  • Pre-departure pack and orientation
  • Codes to parents for minors
  • A new eSIM every 30 days

Does it replace a local phone number?

No. The plan is data only. It covers the arrival weeks, until the participant has a local line.

Who gets the code of a participant under 18?

A parent. The code never goes to the participant, and the parent installs it before the flight.

What about a stay of a year?

Start with a 30-day eSIM. Each further 30 days is a new eSIM, with no limit on the number, until the participant has a local line.

Can the program pay for the data?

Yes. The program buys the first plan at a partner price and gives it to each participant, or the participant buys it in the program portal.
