eSIM for volunteer placements

Send the code with the pre-departure guide, get volunteers online at the pickup, and keep packs at the orientation.

Short answer: A volunteer placement with data starts in the pre-departure guide and ends at the project site. The program sends the code, the volunteer lands online for the pickup, the orientation helps phones without eSIM, and a long placement gets a new eSIM each 30 days.

  • The code before the flight
  • Online at the airport pickup
  • Packs at the orientation
The flow

From the pre-departure guide to the project site.

Four steps of a volunteer placement with data. Pick one to see it.

  • The plan works where the local mobile networks reach.
  • Check the local rules for SIM sales at the orientation.
The solution

Volunteer travel

Put a one-time eSIM code in the pre-departure guide, so volunteers land with data for the airport pickup. SIM packs wait at the orientation for phones without eSIM.

When does the volunteer get the code?

With the pre-departure guide. A code for a volunteer under 18 goes to a parent.

Does the plan work at the project site?

Where the local mobile networks reach the site. Check the coverage first, and keep Wi-Fi at the base for a rural site.

What if the phone has no eSIM?

The orientation hands over a SIM pack after a phone check. A locked phone gets neither.

What about a placement of three months?

Start with a 30-day eSIM. Each further 30 days is a new eSIM, with no limit on the number.
